Dear members of the DDMBA community
We write to ask you to participate politically in DDMBA’s quest for:
Members of the DDMBA Executive recently met with HRM Parks, Planning & Policy representatives to discuss these points as well as improvements to HRM field bookings, maintenance and rainout policy.
The discussions were positive and DDMBA expects improvements will follow for the 2024 season.
HRM has already conducted surveys and created an HRM Playing Field Strategy document.
It can be found online at this link:
Upon review, you will note the recommendation for more field lighting as well as a multi-field complex (with turf) to be included.
These HRM representatives advised DDMBA the initiatives will take place it is just a matter of when and convincing the HRM councillors to put a budgetary priority on them occurring sooner rather than later.
What we ask each DDMBA member to do is contact their HRM area councillor by email and ask them to make these initiatives a budget priority and state the multi-field complex be located in DDMBA’s catchment area. Reasonable suggestions for the multi-field complex would be in Dartmouth Crossing near the RBC Centre or a bit further out the 118 Highway but within DDMBA’s catchment area.
The DDMBA area HRM councillors to contact and their emails are:
David Hendsbee - District 2 - Preston-Eastern Shore david.hendsbee@halifax.ca
Becky Kent - District 3 - Dartmouth South-Eastern Passage becky.kent@halifax.ca
Trish Purdy - District 4 - Cole Harbour-Westphal trish.purdy@halifax.ca
Sam Austin - District 5 [and deputy mayor] - Dartmouth Centre sam.austin@halifax.ca
Tony Mancini - District 6 - Harbourview-Burnside - tony.mancini@halifax.ca
Mike Savage - Mayor [Dartmouth based and former ballplayer] - mackins@halifax.ca
Thank you for your anticipated support!
DDMBA Executive
